The National Association of System Heads Launched the Taking Students to Scale Initiative in 2014. Below is information about our company as well as our dedicated staff and steering committee.

The National Association of System Heads (NASH) is the association of the chief executives of the college and university systems of public higher education in the United States

NASH mobilizes expertise within participating systems and partners with other organizations. In recent years, cross-system collaboration has focused on targeted, evidence-based student success intervention strategies to magnify the impact on student outcomes across many institutions.  These approaches have emphasized increasing student access and success in college, especially for low-income students and students of color.  Issues of quality and equity have been paramount.  Read More…

Rebecca Martin, Executive Director

As Executive Director, Rebecca oversees NASH. Previously, Rebecca served as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs for the University of Wisconsin System from 2007 to 2011. Under her leadership, the System aggressively focused on improving the retention and graduation rates of underserved students. Prior to her time at the System office, Rebecca served for five years as Provost and Vice Chancellor at University of Wisconsin – Parkside. Before that, she served at the University of Vermont, where she held several positions including Senior Vice Provost, Interim Provost, and Acting President. She earned her doctorate in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

Daniel Knox, Senior Policy Advisor

Daniel Knox is the Senior Policy Advisor for NASH and the Assistant Provost for Academic Planning & Student Success at SUNY System Administration. He holds a B.A. in English Language & Literature from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University at Albany, SUNY.  His primary role is to work collaboratively with SUNY stakeholders to develop, implement, and assess transfer policies across SUNY’s 64 campuses. In addition, he supervises several related student success initiatives, including SUNY’s Reverse Transfer program, university wide cross registration, and provides program direction for SUNY’s Degree Planning and Audit initiative (Degree Works)…. Krissy Haynes, Executive Assistant and Event Planner

Krissy serves as the Executive Assistant and Event Planner for NASH.  She has worked with NASH for over 5 years.  Prior to joining NASH, she worked as the Executive Assistant at PioneerRx, a Pharmacy Software company in Shreveport, LA. Krissy’s vast experience includes being a 5th grade teacher, lead software tester, and a flight attendant. Krissy has a BS in Education from Texas A&M University.

Jason E. James T. Minor, Ph.D. serves as Assistant Vice Chancellor and Senior Strategist at the California State University, Office of the Chancellor. Dewayne Morgan

Dewayne Morgan is the University System of Maryland’s (USM) Director of Education, Outreach and Pipeline Development.  His major areas of focus include STEM programs and careers recruitment, educator preparation and professional development, undergraduate student retention and progression to graduation, and P-20 partnerships with P-12 schools. Ken O’Donnell is Vice Provost at California State University Dominguez Hills. Louie Rodriguez

Louie Rodriguez is the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). As a member of the student affairs leadership team at UTEP, Louie’s work focuses on assessment and strategic planning, cross-campus student success initiatives, and student and staff professional development, including oversight of the Career Center, Union Services, marketing, and operations.  Read More…

Nancy S. Shapiro is Associate Vice Chancellor for Education and Outreach and Special Assistant to the Chancellor for P-20 Initiatives at the University System of Maryland (USM).  She leads System-wide partnerships with public schools in Maryland supporting college and career readiness; promoting teacher recruitment, retention, quality, quantity and diversity; and ensuring seamless transfer for students.  Read More…
